Project Rock & the Centennial Celebration

Established in 1910, the National Urban League is the nation’s oldest and largest community-based movement devoted to empowering African Americans and other underserved persons to enter the economic and social mainstream. In preparation for the movement’s Centennial Celebration in 2010, the organization has partnered with CCS for Project Rock, an innovative initiative working directly with five of 97 Urban League Affiliates, to strengthen fund-raising knowledge and capacity across the movement. The results of Project Rock have already proved fruitful. In 2009, the five Project Rock Affiliates reported raising 63% more over 2008. The fund-raising knowledge that has been shared with the five Project Rock Affiliates will be distributed to the larger movement as part of a customized Executive Fund-raising Academy.

CCS is proud to partner with the National Urban League at this special time. The success of Project Rock and the launch of the Centennial Celebration campaign will reinforce the power of the national movement and further define the National Urban League as ambassador of its 97 Affiliates that have had a measurable impact on urban communities throughout America and prepare the nation for the second century of the Urban League movement. The Centennial Celebration campaign celebrates the Achievements of the past and will provide for a strong, secure and sustainable future through programmatic and operational support.
